Alex T. says, "My son loved working with Gabi and always told me about what he learned. He has significantly improved at school and is now all caught up in his class. She is a great tutor, but when I emailed her she said she is unable to use her phone because it broke. So if you rely on texts then I would suggest hiring someone else. But overall, really helpful and great! Just make sure you don't mind using email, she does reply fast." Read more

Hi, my name is Ms. Jacqueline Lomax. I have a Master of Arts in Education, emphasizing Special Education. I have been an educator since 1998 teaching PreK-12 and Adult Basic Education learners with and without special needs. What I love about my job is helping others to become aware of their ability to learn what seems impossible. This is what makes my business stand out. In addition, to my ability to communicate effectively with others. Moreover, I truly believe in "meeting the learner where they are."

Special education tutors help students with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. Special needs tutors modify the general education curriculum to meet the child's individual needs and involve themselves in each student's social and behavioral development.

What is disability in special education?

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) identifies 13 disability categories where special education should be provided.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – mainly affects a child's social and communication skills and behavior.
  • Deafness – covers kids who can't hear most or all sounds, even with a hearing aid.
