I am a licensed special education teacher with 13 years experience working in the field. I have a degree in elementary studies and a graduate degree in Special Education and Autism Spectrum disorders. I have worked with students in grades 2 through 8 in the areas of reading, writing, math and self advocacy/independence. I get to know each student individually and make learning engaging and fun. I provide in depth learning experiences that allow students to dive deeper and use critical thinking while growing independent skills and accomplishing academic goals. I also welcome parent feedback to adjust my practice.

Hi. My name is Deena. I was a certified licensed mental health counselor for 10 years and then became an elementary school teacher for the last almost 20 years. I was certified in Special Education (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-6). I wrote and implemented IEPs, conducted small group lessons in Reading and Math, and developed lesson plans to meet my students' individual needs and strengths. My favorite part of my day was seeing students grasp concepts they thought they couldn't and watching them make progress and gain a sense of confidence!
