Giving students extra help

I believe that being a current student allows me to relate to my tutees and use my own experiences to guide and improve my teaching. Something my best teachers have done for me is to show me how to enjoy a challenging subject. As a tutor, I hope to accomplish the same for my tutees. Even if something is challenging, it can still be enjoyable, fun even. Learning to enjoy what is hard is just as important as learning the material itself.

I teach English, Writing, Music (instrumental and vocal), Theater, Art, and History grades 1 through 12. I was a certified English, History and Fine Arts teacher in Massachusetts for over 30 years teaching in public school, private school for behavior challenged students and Performing Arts Schools. I have tutored students individually and in small groups as well as working with home schooled children in the creative arts.

Being Homeschooled in a military family, I understand many challenges studnets may face, they have to be self motivated and able to work on their own. Clear goals, patience, and the right learning enviornment are now the pillars of remote learning, it is very easy to become burnt out in no time at all transitioning from in person to online learning. We work remotely with students all over the world to improve their career prospects, and locally with students in the Albany, NY and surrounding areas. I have always been passionate about teaching and helping others. I also want to make an impact on peoples lives, and I have learned that one way I can make an impact on peoples lives is by helping them improve their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, etc. to get to the place in their career they want to be in.
