About

I believe that being a current student allows me to relate to my tutees and use my own experiences to guide and improve my teaching.

Something my best teachers have done for me is to show me how to enjoy a challenging subject. As a tutor, I hope to accomplish the same for my tutees. Even if something is challenging, it can still be enjoyable, fun even. Learning to enjoy what is hard is just as important as learning the material itself.

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I first get to know the student. I believe that by getting to know the entire student, I will be better able to help them tackle an area that challenges them.

I am a Cum Laude high school graduate, with accolades in English, Spanish, and Environmental Science. I worked as a student tutor in high school and underwent leadership training to fulfill this role to the best of my ability. I am currently enrolled at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where I plan to study government.

Depending on the age of the student and subject, lessons are $30 to $50. For an elementary school student, lessons will typically be $30. However, for an older student requiring more specialized and in-depth help, lessons will be closer to $50.

I started teaching over quarantine in 2020. My elementary school had cut their Spanish program, but since the program made such an impact on me, I wanted it to continue. I began teaching Spanish to a group of eight year olds so that they could learn to appreciate language in the same way I did.

I have worked with students ages eight to seventeen during my time as a Spanish teacher and peer tutor. I taught across a variety of subjects, from Spanish to English and history. I am best in the humanities, but may be able to help with some lower level math.

A recent event I am fond of is baking cookies with friends at school. Every Thursday evening, we take a break from our homework to enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies in the common room together. It is much a nice way to unwind and enjoy each other's company during a busy school week.

I would say think of specific skills/tasks that you need help with. The more specific you are, the better I am equipped to help you. Part of getting better at something that challenges is you is identifying the challenge in the first place. By being able to tell me exactly what you need help with, you have already taken a big step towards overcoming the challenge.

Students should think about what they want to get out of the sessions. Being able to get a good grade on the next assignment is one thing, but understanding the material long-term is much different.
