As an undergraduate at Caltech and a PhD student at UC Berkeley, I've taught courses at those universities in General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and solar-energy conversion. In college, I tutored local high school students with all types of backgrounds, but especially those at the borderline of understanding the topic (C+/B- level). Through my experience as a teacher assistant at UC Berkeley, I've worked one-on one with hundreds of Berkeley students taking chemistry courses, from those who are trying to get through prerequisites for STEM degrees to those who are on their way to becoming a chemist themselves! I am especially interested in helping students hone in on the necessary math skills to mastering the topic, whether that's high school AP, early college, or mid-level college courses like Stat Mech and Thermodynamics.
I love the physical sciences and would also love to share my experiences with my tutees on how to navigate a STEM career.
I tutored high school math for about four years. I've continued to use Algebra, Calculus, and Trigonometry in my higher level Chemistry courses. These are my favorite math topics.
Chemistry was the first subject I ever tutored a student in, when I was 17 years old. My AP Chemistry teacher recommended me to one of her students in her other Chemistry classes when they were asking for outside help. That's where it all started. About 10 years later, I've become a real Chemist (PhD, UC Berkeley)! And on the way, I've taught hundreds of more students in college-level General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry (Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics).
I'm easy-going and understanding. I'm always trying to figure out ways to teach hard topics in ways to make the learning process more effective.

I provide a range of services catering to the needs of the student. If you are looking for some last minute help before a test, I can focus the session on specific topics. If you're looking for a long-term tutor to really help nail down the genearal Chemistry topic, I can also design lessons around that. I've taught students from different backgrounds, so I'm very adaptable to the needs of the students.
