I’m an incoming Stanford engineering student, and I help high school students make the college application process feel less confusing and overwhelming. I recently went through the process myself and was admitted to Stanford, Harvard, Yale with a STEM Likely Letter, Columbia, Harvey Mudd, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Occidental, UC Berkeley, USC Early Action, and Purdue Early Action. I know how stressful applications can feel, especially when you’re trying to balance essays, deadlines, school, family, and everything else. I’ve also spent a lot of time helping classmates and other students one-on-one with college lists, fly-in applications, personal

Luke D. says, "Dr. Kern not only helped with questions on homework and preparing for exams in which he helpfully guided me towards how to understand the assignment in order to shape my response correctly, but he also helped with exploring the subject that I was learning so that I would have a deeper and broader understanding of the subject, particularly in history. Dr. Kern's review of my work was highly beneficial, both grammatically and conceptually. He was able to guide me on where my mistakes were in which I could correct them, accordingly, on my own. Working with Dr. Lester was an incredible opportunity, and his knowledge and education with writing definitely shows. He offers advice and constructive criticism in a positive light, and is a great teacher. My writing style and capacities have improved since working with him, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend! 5/5 stars!

i started working with him cause a family member recommended him and he’s doing a fall discount (otherwise i def couldn’t afford it). we’ve only had one session so far but he’s really smart. kind of intense but in a good way. he made me a study plan that looks a little scary ngl but also makes me feel like i actually have a direction now. he gives off private tutor vibes, like the kind that usually works with rich families or college kids, but he’s super chill and not snobby at all, which i didn’t expect but really like.

More than a professor, more than a tutor, and definitely more than a mentor who devotes time and effort to understand and guide each and every student of his.
