About this tutor

I have been both a mentor and tutor in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry 1 at my college from my sophmore to senior year January 2015-May 2017. I have also tutored Honors and AP chemistry at Lakewood High School since June 2017. Through mentoring, I  fashioned my own “sustainable” teaching style that encouraged learning from students of different learning backgrounds. I remember the moment I first began to grasp the mole concept in high school. Since then, I have been using the same techniques I used to assist myself. So, for me I particularly aim to make students’ learning sustainable. What is your typical process for working with a new student?

If a student needs help with a particular topic, I look through their notes and try to ask leading questions concerning the concept in question. From there, I can see what they remember from class and how much they understand.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I currently work as a Chemistry Lab Technician and I have a BA in Biochemistry and Neuroscience. During my undergrad, I was a Chemistry tutor for 2.5 years in college level General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry 1 & 2.
