About
I like to do student-centered teaching. Teaching to pass a test does not produce the long term results that we strive for. I teach in a way that prepares students for class and improves their overall reading and writing skills. I really listen to my students and help them where they think they need the most help. This way, we can work together to improve their skills and boost their confidence!
I am a student at Mary Baldwin University. Over the summer, I work as the english and music theory teacher at Lake Arbor Summer Enrichment Camp. I love seeing my students succeed! Seeing them grow to become better readers and writers is what makes me happy. I found my passion for writing at a very young age and I strive to help other young people develop their reading and writing skills. Some of my accomplishments and qualifications include being an early college student (I was able to go into college a year early at MBU), being a member of NHS and NSHSS, and being a tutor in the writing center of my high school.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a new student we usually discuss what our goals are and what you are struggling in now. I really need to know where you are now and where you want to be in the future so I can create a plan that is tailored to help you reach your goals. It helps if you show me a recent excerpt of your writing so I can really know where you are.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students from ages 6-17. From my experience with working at the camp and the writing center in high school, I have been able to teach a wide variety of students.
