About
Unlike the methods employed by the brand name test preparatinon companies, our approach focuses on raising student morale and improving the student's ability to ace exams.
Hello there, my name is Kevin Wang. I've worked as a test prep professional and tutor for over 8 years. During my tenure, I've helped students go from D's and F's to A's in various AP (Advanced Placement) and college classes. I've also helped students improve their ACT score by 7 or more points, SAT score by 400 or more points (old SAT out of 2400), and so forth.
I myself have scored at the 99th+ percentile for all of the standardized exams I help students prep and have an undergraduate degree from UCLA.
Today, I focus specifically on the following standard exams: the ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, and LSAT. If you're searching for a bulletproof plan to help yourself (or your child) reach certain academic goals, including tens of thousands in scholarships or entering the top tier schools of your choice, look no further.
I'll help you get there.
I've been tutoring and helping students improve their grades ever since high school. It comes naturally to me, as I am patient and empathetic with those who have difficulty understanding the concepts.
Helping students overcome various barriers is as enjoyable as it is rewarding. I find it intrinsically pleasing to the point where I actually tutor and provide test preparation services for free (to certain students at local schools).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start off with a 15 minute free consultation - I review the student's current strengths and weaknesses and propose a standard # of sessions per week to help him or her reach the desired target score.
I adjust plans based on the desired test date and the rate of improvement that I observe from the student. More importantly, I make sure to provide the proper amount of support to boost morale and confidence and discuss "good study habits."
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A., UCLA (Summa Cum Laude)
8+ years in tutoring (mostly high school, AP, and college subjects) and 3 of those 8 years in test preparation
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge anywhere from $100 to $200 per hour for all test prep lessons. That being said, I am willing to offer discounts for those who sign up for a certain # of lessons in advance (5, 10, or 15 lessons).
No contracts necessary. I'm more than confident I can win over students and parents without shady marketing techniques.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out with "peer tutoring" back in high school. I helped out students at both a neighboring middle school as well as struggling students at my (back then) current high school. I eventually moved onto paid tutoring services, where I really honed my skills and helped people get to where they need to be.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all stripes and backgrounds, but my primary focus has been on helping high school and university students in their academic studies. This is where I am strongest.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I helped a student (Olga) raise her SAT score from 1220 to 1450 over 12 lessons. A 200+ point increase is indeed commendable, and I am very proud to say she went on to attend UC Santa Barbara.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask how well the teacher performed on the standardized test him or herself (a 99th percentile tutor is going to be far more useful than a 90th percentile tutor), and what specific method is used to ensure the student can earn a significantly higher score.
The instructor should be able to provide very clear and concise answers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself what the purpose of studying is. Sometimes, the goals of the student and the goals of the parent(s) don't align, which creates conflict and impedes progress. All bottlenecks should be resolved before signing up for tutoring in order to ensure maximum efficiency.
