After 30 years in media production, I changed careers and became a classroom teacher through an alternative certification program in Texas. I hold these certifications currently: Generalist 4-8, Social Studies 8-12, Journalism 7-12, and ESL Supplemental 4-12. I recently retired from the classroom, but want to continue my ties to education. The bulk of my classroom experience is with students that have learning differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive functioning difficulties. I have specialized in working with students on an individual basis and delivering instructions based on their learning styles.

I am a teacher with more than a decade in the classroom and more than 15 years as a private tutor. In 2020, I formally launched Hensen tutoring and offered test-prep tutoring (SAT, ACT, ASVAB) and tutoring in social studies and English. In 2024, I expanded my services to include tutoring for AP Human Geography, AP US History, and AP US Government and Politics. My students average AP score is a 4.44.

My passion is to instill confidence and be able to explain diverse concepts from math, reading or even writing to students in a way that makes the information tangible to them. My goal is to keep my learning experiences professional and rewarding to each student.

My name is Colm Murphy, currently I am a high school junior in a dual credit college program with a weighted GPA of 4.12. I usually lean more towards reading and writing prep, along with social studies.
