I am a dynamic English Language and Test Prep specialist with a decade of teaching and tutoring experience with students of all ages. I am TEFL/TESOL certified, have a bachelor's in political science from Georgetown University and a Master's in Education from University College London. My forte is helping students understand their strengths and areas of growth through targeted Interventions in order to prepare them for whatever learning challenge they are facing. Hi, I'm Ms. Sarahjoy! I was a middle school classroom English & Science teacher for 15 years; now I love working with smaller groups of students (or 1:1) online. I believe these learning environments allow for more adaptability to every type of student, are more flexible, and can be more engaging for everyone. Speaking of engaging, I LOVE incorporating model making (especially using food 😉) anything that lets us have "hands on" experiences, or even physical movement. I like to try and get *all* of our senses involved with learning- yes even for English lessons!

I am a teacher with more than a decade in the classroom and more than 15 years as a private tutor. In 2020, I formally launched Hensen tutoring and offered test-prep tutoring (SAT, ACT, ASVAB) and tutoring in social studies and English. In 2024, I expanded my services to include tutoring for AP Human Geography, AP US History, and AP US Government and Politics. My students average AP score is a 4.44.
