PC And Mac Multimedia & Applications Tutoring
About
I have taught in Texas public schools for 27 years and I work with both Windows and Mac OS programs and systems. I also tutor Microsoft Office productivity programs on both platforms and am a certified Microsoft Office Specialist. I teach all phases of the Production Process, which includes storyboarding, filming techniques & skills, as well as video editing. Final Cut Pro X (and of course iMovie) and Adobe Premiere Pro are my strengths. I will also tutor for Adobe After Effects. Among my offerings are self-paced videos and podcasts as well as one-on-one lessons. My teaching style is driven by Project-Based Learning (PBL) because I firmly believe that a hands-on approach is necessary to implement the skills that have been introduced to my students. This also teaches students to use logic and critical thinking skills as they apply the concepts I present.
I have a Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA, in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Education, M.Ed., in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. My certifications include Basic Business and Office Education. I have been honored with numerous awards for teaching and leadership. I have directed a very successful, popular broadcasting program for high school students, and this has become my teaching passion. I have watched this program transform average, quiet, shy students into outgoing, motivated and successful young people. It was a joy to observe! A delightful result of teaching this class was watching my students discover their own passions and career goals.
I most enjoy interactions with my students. They are such delightful and interesting individuals with so much potential for learning and success.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Students are most likely to accept and bond with their teachers when time is spent learning about each other. There must be a mutual element of trust and respect.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington and a BBA in Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50/hour for online sessions and half-sessions are available for $30/hour. In-person sessions are $75/hour plus mileage, and half-sessions are $45/hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I moved with my family to a very small South Texas community where my husband's family had lived and farmed for decades. I quickly discovered that there was no opportunity for employment with my particular college degree, so I started substitute teaching in the high schools in neighboring communities. It was there that I found my passion for working with young people so I began taking courses to earn a teaching certificate. The rest is history!
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all levels of learning abilities equally well, from special needs children to those who are in advanced classes. I also really enjoy helping very young students learn skills that can potentially help them find their career direction.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When I recently retired from teaching, I received numerous notes and letters from my students, past and present, thanking me for my influence on them. The messages brought tears of joy to my eyes, and I saved every one of them. It was an amazing end to my teaching career and I will always love and miss my kids.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I know that my areas of expertise are somewhat unusual for online tutoring forums, but they are growing by leaps and bounds in American high schools. If a student struggles with any of these classes, or simply wants to learn what I teach, I promise a great experience with very positive results. I have a great deal of experience with remote/online learning and teaching as I have done both. My skill teaching remotely has been fined-tuned since the recent pandemic closed our schools to in-person learning.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be very introspective about their learning styles. Each student should contemplate how they can best retain the material being taught. Many kids have never thought about it, but it is a large part of their current and future learning success. A student and his/her parents need to know this so that frustration is minimized and the chance for achievement is increased. I also offer some assessments to help kids discover their strengths and weaknesses relating to how they learn best.
