I love helping students really understand biology and chemistry. It's a hard topic but it literally is the study of how the world and our own bodies work. I love breaking down really difficult topics into bite-sized pieces. I have even taught a 10-year-old how to balance equations and how to convert grams to moles.

I think what makes me stand out is that I love doing what I do and I want to make my students laugh. If you aren't laughing and enjoying your time with me then I feel like I'm not doing my job. Sure biology and chemistry is hard but I want to make this at least a fun difficult thing we do together.

    Ms. Carmen in AMAZING! My 10 grader actually looks forward to their sessions, she makes chemistry come alive for him. This appreciated during this period remote/virtual learning. She gladly assist with homework questions, they conduct experiments, and explore higher level content. Ms. Carmen challenges my son and makes it fun at the same time.

    Carmen is professional, organized, caring, enthusiastic, creative and very qualified. She is also proficient in many different subjects. She was a major support to our family when my high school sons classes went online due to the Covid virus situation. She not only got him back on track academically, she got him excited about learning, taught him how to cook for himself AND taught him more Spanish in a few months than he learned in two years of school. Her approach to teaching is creative, fun, and tailored to the individual student. Carmen is a natural teacher with an ability to inspire and engage her students. Carmen has designed a summer program to continue teaching my son Spanish, preparing him for the SAT and getting him ready for chemistry in the fall. She is an amazing tutor and person-a true blessing to our family!

    Frequently asked questions

    The first interview can include a tiny-mini lesson where I get to know the student and we can exchange paperwork such as school assignments if the purpose is to help the student learn more about the subjects they are currently taking in school. If the purpose is to increase general knowledge then I go over the book I like to use for each class, set them up with google classroom, and explain my class format through teaching a quick topic of my choosing. 

    I'm starting medical school in July!!!!! So excited. In the meantime though I love tutoring people!

    I charge a flat rate per hour of class unless I want 4+ hours a week, then I give you bulk prices

    I kinda fell into it. 

    All kinds of students, but I think I might be a bit of overkill for elementary students except those that want to learn about science. I am more of a middle school to primarily high school student tutor. 

    I am so proud of my 10-year-old who learned how to balance equations. I am also very proud of getting into medical school. I am also proud of the fact that I have a 10th grader who is working with quantum wave mechanics and is getting it.
