I love to teach and excite students in whatever they are learning. I began teaching in public schools when I was 22. I taught 3rd and 4th graders for 11 years in all subjects. I then stopped teaching when I had my first child. However, my children were homeschooled and I taught many different types of classes in a homeschool co-op. My main focus is on elementary age students in all subjects. However, if you have a group of students who would like me to teach a mini science class, I can do all ages! I enjoy coming up with new ways to teach a lesson, and I am passionate about my students.

I'm knowledgeable and patient. I believe it is important to build on the student's confidence as well as their skills, because panic hurts performance almost as bad as being unprepared. I have a Masters and a degree in Economics from Southern Illinois University. I am a professional economist with a heavy background in math and statistics. I've been active in this discipline for over 30 years in a wide variety of industries. I was also in the Air Force. Currently, I tutor in Economics, Math, and Chess. In addition to my Masters in Econ, and minor in Math, I'm an experienced chess player and coach. I have been playing chess competitively si...

Brittany R. says, "Ms. Laura is an educational tour-de-force! Our son Maxwell was falling behind in 5th grade, struggling to stay on reading level. After just a few weeks, we saw improvement in both Max’s grades, and his reading comprehension! Having seen his brother’s improvement, we enrolled our youngest, Quentin, in Ms. Laura’s early literacy lessons! Quentin is just 4 years old, but he’s started really enjoying Frog and Toad. I would absolutely recommend Ms. Laura for any reading problems your children may be facing!" Read more

I make studying fun and life changing. For science it’s about the underlying concepts that make learning easy. For math it’s about understanding basics before accelerating. Social Studies is about looking at US & World histories and geographies in a holistic manner, finding the connections with sciences and math along the way! FunsaiI build trust with children so that learning is empowered.

I am Pam or Ms. Pam. I taught grades 10-12 for 30 yrs. I now tutor mainly HS students along with college students. We all learn differently so with that in mind, I create lessons for all types of learners. I love for you to think outside the box when you can and no question is a bad one. I am successful if YOU are! I do not want you to dread our sessions; I want you to feel accomplished with an understanding of what we did! Learning doesn’t have to be boring!
