My name is Brooke Kirkey and I have been an English teacher for 16 years. I have a B.A. in Print Journalism and M.Ed in Educational Leadership. I am highly qualified to teach all grade levels with certifications in PK-12, and a principal certification. Aside from my experience in the classroom with students of all ages and stages, I also have a passion for reading and writing. It is not only my profession, but what I truly love to do for fun in my spare time. I look forward to meeting and working with students to develop individualized tutoring that will help fill any gaps, and elevate their writing to the next level.

As a biology graduate, I have developed a strong passion for understanding how living systems work and for helping others make sense of complex scientific concepts. Through my coursework, I have built a solid foundation in topics such as cell biology, genetics, and human anatomy, while also learning the importance of clear communication and critical thinking. I am eager to apply my knowledge as a tutor, not only to reinforce my own understanding but to support students in gaining confidence and clarity in biology and stem subjects. I am fluent in 4 languages and have homeschooled my children, who are bilingual in English and Spanish. I understand how important conversation is to learning languqges.

I am a former teacher with certifications in PreK-6th grade core subjects as well as all grade levels of Physical Education, Special Education, and English as a Second Language. I have experience as a middle school PE teacher and coach, a 3rd grade Reading/Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher, and as an assistant in a self-contained special education classroom. I’m now staying home with my own children, but I would love to continue working with young learners. I am passionate about building relationships and helping students gain the confidence and tools they need to take charge of their learning and be successful in and out of the classroom.

I am a dynamic English Language and Test Prep specialist with a decade of teaching and tutoring experience with students of all ages. I am TEFL/TESOL certified, have a bachelor's in political science from Georgetown University and a Master's in Education from University College London. My forte is helping students understand their strengths and areas of growth through targeted Interventions in order to prepare them for whatever learning challenge they are facing. I promote critical thinking, build confidence and show students how to become drivers of their own learning.

I have spent the last four years teaching in the public education system where I received a Master Designation from the Texas Education Agency for my outstanding teaching skills. I am certified in both Texas and Oklahoma as an educator for Early Childhood through Eighth Grade education with an emphasis on the Science of Teaching Reading. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also tutored multiple students in a variety of ways from 2016 til now, my most recent student being a homeschooled senior learning Geometry in which we utilized Zoom to meet.
