Although teaching mathematics is a challenging task, I try to educate my students at a deep level of understanding and attempt to show my students how captivating mathematics can be, while focusing on reaching students of all backgrounds and learning styles. I believe the goal should be to impart a deep understanding of the course material that allows my students to apply the mathematics they have learned to succeed in subsequent math courses. I got my PhD from Purdue University and have experience in teaching Math for more than 30 years. Most of my students I tutored previously achieved excellent results.

I am a recently retired high school math teacher with 17 years experience. I also have 3 years experience homeschooling. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a mechanical engineer. Please note, I can start tutoring after Labor Day - I will work with a student to give him or her whatever help is needed, such as support on homework assignments and preparing for upcoming quizzes and tests. I am a degreed engineering and math major and have tutored middle school -12, as well as taught electronics at the college level. I can tutor in any subject, especially cumulative assessment exams, and prep exams, but I have a passion for math and science subjects. One of my recent accomplishments was attaining my Master's Degree in Project Management. It has helped me focus on tasks, to not only accomplish them, but to excell at them. Don't be suprised if some of those techniques and principles spill over into my tutoring. Just getting an answer should never be the end goal, when you can gain better insight into solving any problem.
