I stand out solely because of my ability to change people's circumstances and my proof is not only found in my students but also in myself. I went from a school where more kids graduate into the prison system than the higher education system. My most notable pupil was Darrion Henry, who after numerous attempts to pass 22 on his ACT was able to get the required score to enroll at Ohio State. If he didn't get the score he wouldn't have been able to play for Ohio State Football.
I love to arm students with the skills they need to succeed. It isn't just another generic phrase to me, it is everything. Without my academic skill, I would be worth as much as my arms can carry. With my skill, the sky is the limit. I have also realized that networking is my best asset, so in converging the two motivations I am motivated to not only help others reach their goals, but to also make an ally that might help me out in my future as well. Simply put, it is in my favor to ensure you reach your potential.
Really knew what he was teaching. Enthusiastic
First, I ask the student what his goals are for our sessions then I list whatever they are working on. After that I evaluate them to see how far along they are. After the initial evaluation I will email the student the resources required to reach that goal. I will assign minimal practice problems and readings so the student doesn't become demotivated. I encourage that if the student doesn't understand a problem, they do not use their parents to help, I would encourage they just circle it and allow me to walk them through the problem. This method worked for my tutor when I was in high school, so I am sure it will work for you.
