About
I am a retired special education teacher. While teaching I specialized in math and reading instruction at the elementary and secondary level. Most recently I worked at the secondary level teaching algebra and geometry, ELA, Social Studies, and Study Skills.
I have been teaching in a variety of roles for the past 35 years. Currently I am tutoring 2 high school students in ELA, Social Studies and math. I am also helping to homeschool my 3 grandchildren - 4,7, and 10.
I strive to make the learning fun, relevant and relatable whenever possible. I have found that students learn best through hands on activities and games. When possible I find material for them to read and write about that relates to their life experiences. We build connections from there.
