Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to greet the student and their family first so that we can get to know each other. I like to see what the family needs are for the student so I that I can better assist them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a NYS certified Biology teacher. I teach Living Environment and other Biology courses. Also, I have taught in several school districts and have taught students from all around the world and have tutored many students.
How did you get started teaching?
In college, I had a professor that encouraged me to teach for several years. I was originally a pre med student but he convinced me to switch to the teaching program. After I graduated, I joined the teaching program and fell in love with teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both middle school and high school students in rural, suburban and urban school districts. I have worked with students with diverse cultural backgrounds and educational needs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Students should reflect on 1 or 2 areas that they need assistance in. That way during our sessions we can improve on those areas to increase student success.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would suggest that students ask their teachers about their over all grades and ways to improve their scores. Having a quick simple conversation with your teacher about your performance can help you out tremendously!
