About
I have a masters in developing curriculum so I try to individualize each lesson that I do for each person that I work with so that you can get the most out of our time. I provide positive feedback and clear explanations so that you are able to understand what you are learning. I can refer materials and provide some from my own collections.
I really enjoy speaking to people and teaching people about the German culture and language. I enjoy helping people feel confident and successful.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start a conversation first to see how much they already know. I also try and do some writing to assess their skill level as well. I have a conversation about their goals so that I can make sure that we are achieving them as we go along.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in German from Michigan State University. I visit Germany at least 3 times a year in order to keep up the language. I have family from Germany. I have a B2 certificate from the Goethe Institut in NYC. I have tutored several adults and children up to A2 level German.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a standard fee of $50/hour. I usually need to buy materials to support what you are learning.
How did you get started teaching?
I have a certificate to teach elementary school. I taught K-2 for over 15 years. I really enjoy working with children, but also will work with any age if they would like to learn German.
