I was an English teacher for 11 years. Back home in the Philippines, I taught Grammar, Literature, Developmental Reading, and Speech. I was also a Class Adviser for Grade levels 9 and 10 for 7 years in a Co- educational Catholic school. When I immigrated to the US, I was a pre-school assistant teacher and a Summer school English teacher for Grades 7 in New Jersey. And when I moved to California, I was a tutor of grades 1-3 students.

While I was in the Army, I volunteered as a tutor in the Laubach Literacy program. This valuable experience inspired me to go back to school to learn more about the English language and the craft of writing. Thus, in 2016 I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Linguistics at the University of Arizona - Global Campus. And in 2022 I completed my Master of Arts degree in English and Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University.
