I have been fluent in Italian since I was 15, when I went to Florence Italy to live with an non-English speaking family and was the only American in my Italian public high school. I spent an entire calendar year immersed in Italian language and culture studying subjects such as history, art, biology, chemistry, physics, philosophy alongside other Italian teenagers, not speaking a word of English (my mother language) for basically that entire year.
