About
I fully believe that everyone has the capacity to learn a foreign language if you put enough work into the task, and I will work with you to get you there!
I love the almost-audible *click* that happens sometimes while students are learning languages. You have to retrain your brain to think different ways when it comes to languages and once you know how to create those new pathways in your mind it's so much fun to watch the student discover they know much more than they thought they did!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Foreign languages can be very intimidating, so I like to try and let my students know that yes, you will make some mistakes when you speak but you'll never learn if you don't try! Languages must be used in order to be learned so I like to use as much German in possible in my tutoring sessions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm fluent in German and taught beginning level German at The Ohio State University while I was in graduate school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard lessons are $30/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I first taught French while in graduate school at Ohio University and I knew then that I wanted to be a teacher. I love seeing that key turn in students' heads when something clicks!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've tutored some younger students, but I've worked mostly with college-aged students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students studying German to try and find a teacher who will use German with you in the lesson and not solely English. It doesn't necessarily have to be full immersion, but hearing the language is so important; a one-on-one setting is the best place in which to do something like that because it's just you and your teacher so there are no extra eyes or ears on you!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
You should consider--honestly--how much time you're willing to put toward learning the language, and communicate that to your tutor. We can work together to get a study routine that will fit your expectations. Languages are not easy but they are so worth the work!
