I have taught courses and designed curriculums at the collegiate level at North Carolina State University and worked with students of all backgrounds, skill levels, and ages. I hold a PhD in biochemistry and have recently moved back to the North Carolina area. My goal it to play a role in improving my community's STEM proficiency by helping students understand and really enjoy scientific concepts. I specialize in biology and chemistry as well as subtopics within those two disciplines - genetics, cell biology, ecology etc......

I love helping students get past mental blocks and gain confidence in math and science skills. I find I can do this by connecting the student with the concept through the student's other interests and subjects where the student already feels confident.

I am a retired science teacher. Extensive experience teaching and prepping students for Biology EOC and IB Biology papers.

With a PhD in Microbiology and a BS in Biochemistry, I bring nearly two decades of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology to every tutoring session. I have taught laboratory courses in Microbiology and mentored junior scientists in rigorous laboratory practice, giving me direct experience explaining complex biological concepts to students at various levels. More recently, I put my teaching experience to work guiding my own daughter through STEM coursework throughout middle and high school.
