I am currently a college student and have enjoyed tutoring my fellow peers (both older and younger) for the past two years. High School material is relevant and fresh in my mind, and I took (and passed!) 6 different AP tests. However, I also have 4 younger siblings and enjoy working with younger students as well! I recently retired from teaching in elementary schools for 20 years. I have a B.S. in Business from Auburn University and a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I have been continuing to study about how children learn to read and the science behind reading and love to teach children to read by using and teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, decodable books, songs, poems, and high-frequency words.
