As a retired middle school Math Educator, I have many years of experience in the classroom and understand best practice. In addition, I have also been tutoring students for over 20 years. I understand the need for custom-designed lessons to not only keep a student interested, but also to fit a student's individual learning style.

Doing this allows me to establish rapport with all students I might tutor. In addition, I also infuse a bit of humor into lessons, to help students be more comfortable which is critical to a positive learning environment.

There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing that spark of accomplishment when a student gains understanding of a previously unknown or confusing concept.

Finally, students know that I care about their progress and celebrate their accomplishments.

    Initially, I establish rapport with any new students. I introduce myself, and give a quick overview of my background. I also attempt to solicit some information about the needs of the student.

    I have a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Oakland University.  Also, I have 12 years experience teaching middle school math at Rochester Community Schools.  

    Together with my teaching experience, I also have extensive math tutoring experience with 2nd grade-8th grade.

    Generally I quote with,an hourly rate; generally $35-40 per hour
    I have worked with a diverse group of students with varying ethnicities and ages. Some of my students have had math anxiety, some are shy and some have been outgoing. The underlying factor that all my students share is a need for help in math. I gladly welcome those students and do my best to support them.
    An important criteria is that the student and teacher must have rapport in communication. The student needs to be comfortable and trusting in any communication. Finally, after connecting with each other, the student should feel free sharing their math strengths and weaknesses so the teacher will be most effective.
