I am a middle school educator with 3 years of special education experience as well as running and managing classrooms. I have been told by both my students and co workers that I have a skill for building strong relationships with students and creating a trusting and supportive connection. I am great at bridging a students interests with the curriculum they are struggling in. My work in special education has been both rewarding and successful. I have helped to improve social, emotional and academic skills in individuals that need a strong one on one instructor rather then in a classroom setting.

I am passionate about the work I do with children because every child I have worked with has influenced my life in some way. I tend to become close with families I have worked with and still keep in touch with many of the students I have worked with over the years. I received my master's degree in Special Education in 2004 and have experience with children of all levels in the classroom setting and at home. The majority of my work history is with elementary aged children. I appreciate and understand that each child learns differently. I will customize a plan that focuses on the students' strengths while using input from parents, caregive

What is special education tutoring?

Special education tutors help students with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. Special needs tutors modify the general education curriculum to meet the child's individual needs and involve themselves in each student's social and behavioral development.

  • Emotional Disturbance (ED) – various mental health issues such as anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
