About

I prioritize building relationships of trust with students regardless of their age and/or confidence with writing. I'm intentional about listening for understanding and I provide constructive feedback that allows students to identify their own areas for improvement so that they can grow to write with confidence.

What I enjoy most is witnessing students who previously dreaded writing begin to feel less intimidated and embrace it as an extension of themselves. I love seeing students spend less time on the soul-killing need for immediate perfection in their writing and watching how they welcome the process of becoming more effective writers.

Ms. Welch is a wonderful teacher and I was so lucky to have her as my English teacher during my senior year. She is understanding and always listens to her students when they have something to say. The class was engaging and I never felt overly stressed or overwhelmed. Ms. Welch works hard to ensure that her students are not bored and will introduce new class activities to keep things interesting. Students felt comfortable within her class and it was always a safe environment to be in. I could not have asked for a better teacher.

I really enjoyed working with Ms. Welch over the past 8 years. She has been a great mentor and tutor. She always puts in extra time and effort for her students when they need her support. Not only is she a great educator, but she is also an amazing person to have as a support system for social/emotional needs. She is a great resource, and she helps her students outside of class while still maintaining a professional student-teacher relationship. She is well versed in many subjects including World History, and English Literature so I enjoyed being able to reach out to her for assistance on schoolwork for different subjects.

Frequently asked questions

After brief introductions, I usually will ask the student to share their learning style and the types of supports that help them feel successful. Based on the identified need I will then conduct a brief assessment to gauge where they are so that I can meet them there and help them improve their writing.

M.Ed in Secondary History, Boston College Lynch School of Education

B.A. In Peace and Justice Studies, Wellesley College

I consider the following factors in pricing:

-age and grade level of student

- level of support needed and outside preparation required (Some examples: supporting an existing curriculum, providing test prep, editing an existing piece of writing, providing supplemental materials etc)

I tutored high school students while in college, took education courses, and gained teaching experience during key internships at local schools. Senior year of college I was named one of 25 Woodrow Wilson Rockefeller Brothers Fellowship Fund for Aspiring Teachers of Color fellows chosen nationwide, and completed my M.Ed in Secondary History at Boston College.
