SAT/ACT Test Prep

Hello! My name is Nicholas Yoon, and I am a junior at Northeastern University majoring in environmental science and minoring in psychology.

When I took the SAT and ACT back in high school, I received a 1520 on my SAT and a 34 on my ACT. I also got a perfect score on the essay section of my SAT. However, I did not get these scores by chance and actually did not score that well on my PSAT, my other practice tests or even my first SAT exam. I know what it takes to improve one's score and one's overall test-taking skills because I have actually gone through the process myself. I believe there is value in having a tutor who has been in the position of his/her students and can relate to them because it creates a positive relationship between the tutor and the student. This positive relationship has yielded noticeable improvement in my student's SAT/ACT test-taking skills and scores.

I also have 3 years of combined experience as a tutor, a teacher, and a camp counselor for a wide range of age groups from elementary school to high school. I am also an older brother to a 12-year-old sister, whom I have also tutored in a wide variety of subjects.

Every time I interact with a student, I go into it with the mindset that they are capable of achieving their goals, and he/she simply needs some extra guidance. When I see my students improve, I can see their confidence grow, and this confidence often leaks into other aspects outside of simply test-taking. Seeing my students go from doubting their abilities to becoming confident students and learners is what motives me to continue to tutor and teach.
