Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will ask what their previous scores were, and walk with them through a practice to see what areas need to focus. I am an active listener and I try my best to get to the point based on the person, instead of have a cookie-cutter approach.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've tutored younger children in the past in math; personally I've completed Calculus II as the highest level of math, but I am currently taking discrete mathematics in college. In high school, I scored perfect 5s on both AP English III and IV exams.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I will charge $30 an hour as a standard, but price is negotiable.
How did you get started teaching?
I've always liked to tutor people on the subject I'm more knowledgeable on, ever since elementary school. I haven't yet professionally taught, but I'm certainly willing to try the process out!
What types of students have you worked with?
The students I've worked with are smart individuals, but they may have trouble paying attention in class. For example, my neighbor had a D in Chinese class and asked me for help, and when we talked through the areas of misunderstanding, I realized he could easily get the information if he had one-on-one interaction.
