About
My passion for teaching stems from a passion for learning. As class valedictorian in high school and graduating in the top of my class at Michigan State University, I take academics to great heights. One of the most important things I have learned in my life-long pursuit of education is that you not only need to have a passion for learning, but you also need the tools to help you succeed at it.
I specialize in tutoring English, Reading, Literature, Photography, and Art History. Back when I was a graduate student, I worked as a teaching assistant, where I helped instruct the history of photography courses to undergraduates. I ran classes and graded papers, and I taught my students not only to have an appreciation for art, but how to write about it as well!
With every lesson I try to keep my student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I'm great at gauging where a student is, and am able to adjust accordingly. I also try to keep lessons fun, as I have found through my experience a little fun goes a long way when trying to learn!
My availability is flexible, so feel free to contact me with your preferred session times.
I earned my BA in English from Michigan State University, with a concentration in creative writing. I also am the proud recipient of a MFA in Photography, which is considered to be an "academic" pursuit, which involves high prowess in reading comprehension, analysis, and writing.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you have. I look forward to learning together!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is getting to know their goals, both short-term and long-term. I also like to know a little bit about my student, like their motivations, their likes, and if they are comfortable, a little bit about their life! That way I can find common ground to stand on with them and we can incorporate things they enjoy into our lessons for better retentive results.
