About
USC Graduates Offering SAT, ACT, College Application, and K-12 Tutoring
Hello! My name is Mihir Kumar, and I am currently a first-year medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine under a full cost-of-attendance scholarship, and am a recent graudate of the University of Southern California under the full-tuition Trustee Scholarship. At USC, I obtained degrees in Human Biology and Economics on the pre-medical track. My team (at summittutors.org) and I have been tutoring the SAT/ACT, science, math (from pre-algebra all the way through Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations), reading, writing, English, and more for the last 7 years and would love to work with you!
Over the past few years, our team has worked with over 250 K-12 students in standardized testing, math (from elementary operations through Calculus), the sciences, English, reading, writing, history, and more. Dozens of our students have improved their SAT and ACT scores by 250-350+ points and 5-8+ points, respectively, too. Each of our tutors also specializes in the subjects they teach, and I have passed down what I have learned over the last several years to each of these hired tutors through intensive trainings.
Having experience with the internal workings of admissions processes across the country, my team and I also provide college admissions assistance and have assisted many students in earning admission to incredibly selective colleges such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, the University of Warwick, the London School of Economics, Boston University, USC, etc.
Beyond my qualifications, my team and I really pride ourselves in personalizing our tutoring. None of us will ever have more than 4-5 students at a time so that we can provide the best possible personalization of teaching to each student. Additionally, being at a similar age to many of our students helps us relate to them a lot better than some older tutors may be able to; we have more recent experience with taking the same courses/tests as them or applying to colleges like them, and this helps a lot in our tutoring personalization.
In terms of our team's teaching style, we love being able to connect with students beyond the structured environment of most classrooms and tutoring/prep academies. We try to provide our students with just enough structure so that they know how to study, how to test, etc., but enough autonomy so that they can learn how to succeed on their own.
Helping students navigate this fine line is really meaningful, as many of our students have reached out to me after starting college talking about how the study habits we built together were really helpful. This means a lot to me and to my team and we look forward to helping more students develop similarly powerful habits.
