Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to get to know the student a little bit, then have them explain to me what they need help on. I have them work out a problem for me first, then I step in and correct them where they went wrong. I make sure that they understand what I'm talking about, and I'm open to whatever questions or even suggestions that they have as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a senior in high school. I am 18 years old. I have passed all of my classes with excellent grades. Plus, I love different subjects. I also have a love for the arts.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We can discuss pricing.
How did you get started teaching?
I am actually new at this, but I'm not new to teaching children. I have taught dance and math to children starting at age 15.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students. I have also taught kids with autism and ADHD.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had a student tell me that because of my teaching, they believe that they can do anything that they put their mind to.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher that is genuine, and actually cares about you doing well, not somebody who is doing it just because they get paid for it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Some good questions are : What exactly do I need help with? Am I willing to receive another person's help? Am I willing to listen and pay attention? Am I going to feel comfortable about asking questions?
