Hello parents and students! I'm Alexis, an experienced English educator and tutor who has worked with students from middle school through advanced high school coursework, including IB MYP, AP English, and debate. I help students strengthen reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while building confidence in their academic voice. As someone who also coaches and works in high school athletics, I understand the demands students juggle both inside and outside the classroom and provide clear, personalized support that leads to real growth.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I prefer to get to know the student, their strengths and weaknesses; where the student stands with the content. Once we have established what needs to be done, I work with the student to create a realistic plan on how to tackle the content.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Previously I taught 7th Grade ELA in Illinois before moving to Florida where I taught high school ELA (all grade levels) for 2 years and developed the curriculum for Speech/Debate I.
I am currently located in Silver Spring, Maryland, where I am teaching 7th grade English, 7th grade adv. English, and Digital Literacy II.
