About

I work independently as a tutor. Initially, I worked as a teacher in Jamaica W.I. for 33 years; teaching students ages 3 - adult. My approach to tutoring is Student Centered: I assess them, identify appropriate teaching/learning material, plan and execute lessons in a pleasant, professional manner. I employ strategies that I've tested, and the results empowered my students to be successful in tasks being presented.

,

I am passionate about teaching because it helps me to make a worthwhile contribution to humanity. I am enthused when I facilitate my students to learn concepts that proved challenging, or were unfamiliar. I like to see the smiles on their faces, and the confidence they display when learning is evident. I really feel a sense of worth that I helped others to communicate better, and to use the knowledge, and skills to improve their lives.

Beverley has been a wonderful tutor to my daughter! She’s been helping her improve her reading and writing skills. She’s very polite and patient. She also makes her tutor sessions fun and interactive. I would highly recommend her for any child that needs extra help.

She works well with my child to ensure the best learning skills is achieved. My child is in first grade and having trouble with comprehension and has fallen behind in class. Beverley has made sure to use tools to keep my child engaged. I’m very happy I have found her.

30 years teacher training in Elementary Education.

Teacher's Developmental Seminars for ages 3- adult.

     The Introductory Lesson is free.

Subsequent lessons would be $40.00 per hour for adults......but $25.00 per hour for children.

I was a gifted student, my Grade 2 teacher had difficulty keeping me occupied with assignments, so she would give me 3 or 4 Slow Learners to teach them to spell.

I've worked with the following types of student: normal, gifted, remedial, and students with special challenges.

Last week I was teaching my 5 year old cousin to do basic addition. She is generally very fidgety when her father helped her.

I got her to focus and learnt a method to do addition which was easy, and fun.Her father was surprised when he saw what she did.

I would encourage them to hire a teacher who is fond of the subject he/she teaches, keeps abreast of changes in their chosen subject area, is patient, and can help you to understand the lessons to be taught.

    1.The teacher's level of competence.

    2.The teacher's enthusiasm

3.The teacher's interest in the issues that they have.
