Low literacy levels can wreak havoc on the ability to learn content, engage in higher-level thinking, and build interstitial background knowledge. As an educator, I believe in responsive instruction. Teaching is a pedagogy that recognizes and encompasses how knowledge is communicated and noticed by the students. As a teacher I build a good relationships with all students, have high expectations, learn about the student's culture and work with the student’s current curriculum in all grades including students with special needs.
