About
I am excited to connect with you and your child!
I have been an educator for the past 8+ years and I am passionate about supporting students with Early Literacy and English Language Learners. I am a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor and firmly believe every child deserves high-quality, research based reading instruction. I support students online and across the United States and Canada. In every lesson, I include the following essential components: strong connection/relationship; implement sequential, research based instruction; engage with games and movement; encourage creative outlets; and incorporate multi-sensory methods.
I aim to do my part in ensuring every child has access to research-based reading intervention that meets their specific needs. When working with your child, I always put a large focus on building relationships and getting to know each of my students and families personally. With a strong teacher-student relationship, I find students have more academic success and it makes those successes all the more powerful!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I always focus on with any new student is building the relationship and getting to know each other, along with setting expectations in a fun and understandable way. I begin with "get to know you" activites and always get an understanding of some baseline academic and social aspects of a new student. Next, I complete formal assessments to guide our starting benchmark and ot create a plan of success moving forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor and have my license in Elementary Education and ESOL/ELL. I have worked with elementary and middle school students for the past 8 years in a variety of school and online settings.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, my standard pricing is $60-80 /hr.
How did you get started teaching?
My first teaching role was teaching 2nd grade at bilingual schools in Honduras and Mexico for two years. After this, I completed my teacher residency program and obtained my teaching license. Since then, I have worked with students from Pk-8th grade in Washington, D.C. I have become very passionate about equity in literacy and made the transition out of the classroom to become a full-time online tutor reading tutor. I support students across the US and Cananda using Orton Gillingham/Science of Reading aligned practices.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with English Language Learners; students with dyslexia and a variety of learning differences; students with IEP'S; students with 504's and students with special needs.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was able to attend a soccer game of one of my previous students. I worked with him in 2nd and 3rd grade and he is a huge fan of soccer. It was amazing to see him in his happy space and so confident. He also got to meet and fall in love with my fur baby!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to first look to see if they have qualifications/experience working with other students/subjects that you need support in. After that has been verified, I would make sure that the relationship/connection with the tutor is one that makes you feel safe, respected and supported.
