Wilson Reading Tutor
About
I have been working as a certified teacher in a public elementary school for the past 28 years. I am currently a reading specialist and have held this position for the past 14 years. I provide reading intervention to students based on their needs. I am a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner and have helped many students with Dyslexia learn to read. I use my Wilson training to help my students learn the structure of the English language so they become confident readers and spellers. I would love to help you or your child as well!
I truly enjoy empowering my students with the information and skills they need to crack the code of the English language and become confident when tackling unknown words while reading and spelling. I like to develop a good rapport with my students so that they enjoy coming to their lessons and look forward to the work we do. I am happy to work with children as well as adults that need help learning to read and spell.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would learn the students needs through discussion with the parent. I would provide some assessments based on that discussion to determine the students current skills. Then I would develop a plan for the student to hone in on what the student needs to learn next in order to make progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Reading Specialist at a public elementary school. I have a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Arts in Education. I also completed 30 additional credits in Reading to achieve certification in Remedial Reading. I completed additional training to become a Wilson Certified Dyslexia Practitioner.
