Nathan Remillard Tutoring
About
Being a triple major in all different areas (Choral Music, Psychology, and Russian), I offer multiple fields of assistance. I also acknowledge that everyone has a different style of learning- I promise to do my absolute best to cater to that need.
Education has always been important to me, and I believe that every single person has a right to obtain an education and succeed in it. I have been tutoring friends and peers since middle school, and I have loved every second of it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start by just getting to know each other and getting a feel for the student's current skills and difficulties. I will also try to see how they work best. While I am personally an auditory learner, I will do everything it takes to accomodate a different type of learner.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have completed 4 years at the University of Southern California and have earned a spot on the Dean's list frequently. I am a triple major in Choral Music, Psychology and Russian. I anticipate to graduate in May 2022.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25-30 an hour would be my 'minimum'. I'd likely charge a little more for a larger distance. Of course, I am 100% flexible in that rate. Things happen and sometimes you may not be able to pay on time/at all. I will work with you!
How did you get started teaching?
I have always loved education. I was definitely that kid in elementary school who genuinely enjoyed homework assignments and projects. I started tutoring my peers and friends in middle school (nothing too serious).
What types of students have you worked with?
I am mostly an auditory learner, and I have found that I have the most success with other auditory learners. However, I have definitely needed to adjust for other types of learners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I currently am a member of the USC Chamber Singers! We are an auditioned choir of about 40 college students (I am a tenor!). This past year, we prepared to go on tour to Taiwan and Thailand. Even though it ended up getting cancelled due to COVID-19, I am very grateful for getting to prepare music of those cultures and learning more about it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not be afraid to establish your needs! A good teacher will do everything in their power to adjust their method of teaching to fit those needs. Also, sadly, not everyone is a perfect match. If the student/teacher dynamic isn't working out, there is not shame in switching teachers (if possible).
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I have never believed in a "dumb question". Sometimes, we just need to be guided to where we need to be in order to figure something out. Sometimes, you have the tools to get there yourself but need a reminder. All of that is encouraged!
