Richard S. says, "When you are not a math major, but required to fulfill credits in the subject, there is nothing more intimidating than that midterm or final. Luckily, there are people like Raymond Carty to personally coach students into strengthening the left side of the brain. The first thing that is required of any tutor is being personable. The second most important thing that students rely on in tutors is being extremely knowledgeable in their field. The third thing that students need from a tutor is the ability to demystify the subject for non-majors of the field. Ray embodies all three of these qualities as a person, and as a math tutor. Heavy were my eye lids as I sit in the sweltering Hawaiian heat, in a crumbling classroom without air conditioning. The professor demonstrates math computation on the board, as my vision begins to blur. The chalk continues to scratch the board. My eyes close. I just cannot connect to this subject on the personal level. It does not click with me. After class is over, I ask Ray, the university TA, for some help learning the subject. I was a serious student who wanted to pass the class, but I just needed some extra academic support. Ray is easily approachable, and an all round jolly individual to be around. He has a passion for his field that just radiates out of his being, and leaks onto those who he tutors. He is easy to speak with and a very positive person. Ray is very knowledgeable in his field of study. He would show me math computation pertaining to what we were currently learning. That made my fully confident in him as an intellectual authority on the subject, and made me feel confident in myself that I can learn math. Finally, Ray had a way of demystifying the material, a way of explaining it to me that I can understand, learn, and demonstrate the skill. Professors (and teachers) can be intimidating by presenting the material in a much more highly advanced application. Ray did not make math scary, like many educators do. He made it to where I can understand it, enjoy it, and be successful in the classroom. I highly recommend Raymond Carty. If you are looking for someone to help you learn math vocabulary or computation, or are simply just trying to get through that test, Ray is a very personable, knowledgeable, and effective communicator of this field of study." Kangsoo Y. says, "We just moved to the US from Korea and the change has been very tough for my kids. They are not familiar with the US school system and falling behind. I saw their confidence draining. But all of that changed when SoFlo came into the picture. To start, they gave a free assessment so they could figure out where my children were struggling. From there we had weekly tutoring sessions that my kids actually enjoy. I am seeing their confidence return and life in the US get better for them" Read more

Our son (8th grader now) is extremely introverted. It takes a lot of time and effort to establish trust with him. Most people fail. Mr. Russel catered his words, topics and behaviors to tailor to his needs. He put in an unbelievable amount of time and effort to get to know him and earn his trust. So much so that, Mr. Russel is probably THE closest person he has outside his immediately family. Mr. Russel is invaluable and irreplaceable. Grades? his grades went from 2.67 to 3.5 over just 7 months. But, more importantly, he found a friend.

Vatche is an excellent tutor, and very smart, he went step by step through my homework. He breaks down challenging material (aka Calculus 2) into manageable parts and provides clear explanations that resonate with my learning style (I'm a visual person). I would have failed my test without him. I got an A on the test which raised my grade from a C to a B. 100000/10 WOULD RECOMMEND HIM !!!!!!!

Raymond was extremely patient and kind, and worked hard with me to help me with linear algebra and multivariable calculus concepts. He was determined and always taught me in a clear and consistent manner. He truly was a remarkable tutor, and would not have passed my course without his help.

My daughter had to write a pre-algebra test in a few days and I was concerned she was struggling. I contacted SoFlo online, expressed my concern and in spite of the tight schedule they moved things around to accommodate my daughter. I witnessed the session and it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I love the teaching method, and that my daughter was offered multiple methods to solve the same problem. I recommend SoFlo highly!

I hired Scott because my son who is a working actor, just got cast in television program and needed to work independently. He was having trouble keeping up with certain courses and Scott saved the day! He was patient and persistent and helped my son complete his course work with wonderful grades. You can tell Scott loves to teach. He was with us for several weeks and was always a pleasure to have around. And this was even during the pandemic. I would hire Scott again in a heartbeat and would recommend him to anyone! Rebecca King Crews Pasadena
