Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe that learning how to think through and break down problems into small steps is the most important think a person can learn. I'll start teaching this by figuring out what level a student is at, and then teaching the aspects of mathematics, computers, and programming essential to pushing a student slightly beyond where they are. Then we will use efficient problem solving methods and break a problem down in a way that pushes the students to think further and understand more problems than they could before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've completed several computer science courses and discrete mathematics courses at Carnegie Mellon University, have assisted with research doing video game design and data science, and am currently doing front-end and server development with a startup for the summer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Just $40/Hour
How did you get started teaching?
While at university I found a love of solving problems and have wanted to inspire others since then.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think the best advice for students is to follow your intuitions and curiosities. When solving problems you can learn a lot by going off the beaten path by either finding unconventional solutions or figuring out why a technique doesn't work.
