About

I am a college student looking to help out other students of all ages in as many subjects as I can. I love the satisfaction of truly learning a subject and want to help others succeed. I had a very difficult time in school and understand the struggle of subjects that just don't make sense. I have tutored all ages from kindergarten to college for over 10 years. I have worked with students in my own classes as well as students from other schools and grade levels. I also have experience working with autistic and dyslexic students.

I really enjoy seeing students succeed. I know first hand how difficult school can be. Watching students start from a place of uncertainty and move towards mastery of a subject is just incredible.

Frequently asked questions

I like to first have a conversation over the phone about the expectations the student and/or parent have for me and in which way(s) I could help the most. Then I like to move forward with setting up a schedule for recurring clients or a meeting time for one time clients. I also like to do frequent check ins and see what things I have been doing that help that particular student and which things don't help as much so that I can continue to do my best at achieving our goals.

I am a student at Sacramento State University studying biomedical science. I also have certifications for phlebotomy and CPR.

When I struggled in school I found it really hard to find tutors that enjoyed what they did. It made it harder to learn when it felt like the people helping me didn't care about the outcome. My goal as a tutor is to not only achieve the student's short term academic goals but to teach them learning techniques they can use throughout their education and further their success.

I have worked with students from kindergarten to college. I have tutored students that were struggling and falling behind as well as students that were trying to get ahead and maintain their 4.0 gpa. I also have experience tutoring autistic and dyslexic children.

Due to COVID, I have been taking advantage of outdoor time and recently went hiking. I love experiencing the outdoors and witnessing nature, especially as a break from academics.

My advice would be to really think about who you are choosing as a tutor. If your tutor doesn't show you their passion for learning and teaching then they won't put in the level of effort you want. Tutoring is exciting and helping someone achieve their goals is such a rewarding experience. Your tutor's demeanor and actions should reflect that!

One of the most important things to me is for students to discover how they learn best (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, etc). Students should explore which ways they retain information best whether they do that through trial and error or through a test online. This can be done with a tutors help or on their own. Secondly, I think it's important to think about where the problem is. Can you start a problem or essay but then get lost or do you not know where to start? Is the problem with memorization or with applying the knowledge? These things can all be assessed with a tutor of course but should be in the back of your mind before the tutoring starts.
