I would need to understand the structure of their class and how the information is taught to them. Then I would delve into their assignments and try to guage how they approach problems to be solved. After this point I can get a sense of their understanding of the subject and I will try to create lesson plans for them to catch up if needed or work ahead of the class if possible.

I have won a National Science Foundation Grduate Research Fellowship based on my proposal for quantifying chlorinated compounds within disinfected oods for ready-to-eat purposes. This should demonstrate my qualification to teach Chemistry as I not only study Chemistry in my research, but I can also apply my knowledge for useful research.

I would give them inspiration to reach their goals in life. My subject is only a portion of what they need to truly succeed, but inspiration and encouragement can take them even further!
Students need to be comfortable with testing themselves. Chemistry is a subject best taught through repitition. I can only clarify loopholes that the teacher missed in class, but the student needs to take responsibility to master the subject. This is the best practice for college where nobody is going to force them to hit the books.
