I remember what it was like to learn all different kinds of math for the first time, I remember how frustrating it was at times, and I remember how poorly some of my teachers presented material. A lot of teachers believe that they should spend more time on theory and explaining how certain concepts came to be.  The history of math is great however when it comes time to actually solve problems the theory and history is not going to get you very far. This is why I believe that creating procedures and doing practice problems is the best way to quickly learn how to solve various math problems.  When you have a series of steps to help yo ... I explain many lessons and problem solutions with very vivid, visual explanations. I know that it is often difficult to understand a lesson or problem with how a book or teacher defines it. By breaking the lessons and solutions down to a general step by step guide combined with visual examples, that include an easy and a hard one, the student will feel like they can even teach and tutor another person. You do not have to be an expert at the whole subject. My main focus is to help a student become an expert at a concept, a lesson, an equation, a problem, etc. Then once you do that for all of the concepts of a subject, you can feel confident en ... My goal is to help students understand and thrive in mathematics; anywhere from pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus. I've been taking math almost my entire life. I excelled at math since elementary school, and it is still relevant in my present life as I am actively enrolled in math classes at my college. I understand many of the struggles students deal with; such as having an unsatisfactory teacher, not understanding fundamental concepts, and applying knowledge to different types of problems. I explain steps and concepts as simply and clearly as I can, and have good patience with struggling students. In the past, I ... View Profile

Math is a second language to me. I recently took graduate physics and math courses on track to receiving a physics PhD from University of Pennsylvania, so you could say I've been living and breathing math for a long time. All those courses in public school ended up helping me greatly, although I didn't appreciate them at the time. I understand what it's like to view math as the enemy, so I can relate to you if you're struggling unhappily to get through your math classes. Math class is a battle and you can win the war! Besides helping my brother, sister, and friends with math homework growing up, I've had other tutoring and teaching positions. ... View Profile
