Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initially meeting I will look at their syllabus and either make a copy or scan so that I can follow how they are being taught in class, and to ensure I am ready for the following session. We will take a look at homework and practice problems that the professor has assigned and gage how much the person understands already and where they need help.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a camp counselor for many years. Being in that position has taught me that not everyone learns the same and that a teaching method may need to change for each individual to be able to achieve their goals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$20 for the first hour, and $10 per 30 minutes after. This allows clients who may not need a full two hours to customize their time frame.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
In my experience when I need to talk to a professor, knowing where your knowledge ends is a great thing. If I go to office hours and say "I don't get (this whole concept)" they won't be able to help me much. If you go to them and say "I understand up until hear, and this but I get lost during (this step)" they will both appreciate it and be ablet to help you much quicker and more tailored to your needs.
