About
Hi I'm Matt,
A bit about me... I grauduated from the University of Michigan in 2011, earned my MBA from UCLA in 2018 and currently work at the TV show Modern Family.

They no longer have a non-compete clause and I'm looking to pick up some more hours. I have an excellent system for sharing PDFS with my students during live chats online and coordinating our materials via Dropbox. I guarantee higher scores so long as the student is willing to put in some effort!
I truly enjoy this job and look forward to working with your prepper!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first chat with the student about what they aim to accomplish with tutoring and define their time frame.
After the initial lesson I like to give each student a full SAT or ACT to complete for HW. I then score the test and find the areas that give the student the most difficulty. If the student is already testing at a high level, I focus on specific skills and question types. If the student needs some more guidance, I start with the basics!
Over time the scores come up! The more lessons and HW I'm able to share the better.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've worked with a top online ACT/SAT prep company for three years!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $120/hour. However, prices are flexible with longer engagements.
How did you get started teaching?
I had a younger brother! I've been helping him with homework since we were kids. I picked up the SAT/ACT part while I was in business school to make some extra money.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students who earned 980 to start as well at those who earned 1580! My students have also ranged from those that share their home with me in LA to Cambodia, Spain, Switzerland and the Middle East!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think the most important thing is making sure the student likes their tutor. This stuff can be difficult and most students do these lessons on the weekends or after school. If the student doesn't enjoy the energy their tutor brings to the table, the lessons can often be unproductive.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should think about what helps them learn best. Do they prefer to do HW on their own and then have answers explained? Do they like to have strategies discussed before practice problems? Do they perform best with tons and tons of tests?
Finding their personalized learning style obviously helps the process most effectively!
