About
I am a private tutor for elementary school aged children. Since a young girl, my passion was teaching young children and being a mom. I am a mother of 4 amazing children and I work in the schools teaching kids to read! The best reward is when I have a student or client that can't read or has difficulty reading and with in a short time they are blending sounds and reading. The child gives off this great huge smile that is full of pride and confidence. That is the best thing to see! As a school employee and a special needs caregiver, I help teach the students to read from learning their letter names and sounds to reading above grade level. Math is a subject that is also available. I have been working general education and with children with different special needs for over 10 years. I meet at the local library for 1 hour sessions.
What I enjoy the most is when I see them enjoying doing the lessons. I make things fun while learning basic reading skills. Another thing I love during the lessons is when they see their improvement and get all that confidence in them or get their confidence back. I enjoy lifting the childs self esteem and love teaching!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a student we get to know eachother with a few questions that they would like to ask me. Once speaking to the student and getting to know them for a few moments I would give a rwading test that would show what their weak spots are. I focus on thise skills for a lesson or 2 and see what they learned. If they have the skill mastered than we move on to the next lessons needing improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my cpr, first aid and atical 9 certicications as well as my fingerprint clearance card. I have been employeed as a Respite and Habilitation with disabled children and adults since 2006. This gave me the opportunity to work with different types of disabilities, physically and mentally. It taught me to be flexible, patient, and how to work with differnt types of children and disabilities. Some disabilities I have worked with the most in the last 10 years are Autism, Down Syndrome, Seizures, wheelchair bound and also children that have Emotionally unstanle for different reasons. I then started working for the Special Education classroom in Scottsdale in 2012. I am currently employeed with the school district for the reading intervention at the elementary school.

How did you get started teaching?
Ever since I was a child I wanted to be a mom and a teacher. I went through school, got married and had 4 amazing kids. I help care for my cousin who has Autism throughout my life. I decided to get a job with the schools while going to college. I loved working with the different kids and see how much they liked veing at school and liked learning every day. I then changed my profession and stayed with the school districts.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids that have had a wide range of disabilities from wheelchair bound, autistic, Down syndrome and even some with anger issues and general education. I work with children grades K-5.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advise would be to find a tutor that has experience and that you feel comfortable around. A person that can explain things in different ways to help you understand something better.
