I'm a passionate English teacher in Seattle with a bachelor's degree in English and, more recently, my master's degree in Teaching, both from Western Washington University. I have experience working with 7th-12th graders on their reading and essay writing. My specialty is nonfiction writing and I particularly love to help students with personal statements for applications for college and scholarships. I have a passion for helping students find their voice through their writing and helping them to understand what they can bring to a strong application. I have experience with general degree applications as well as specialty program applications

Aleks L. says, "We've had an amazing experience with Linda. My daughter (2nd grade) really struggled with her handwriting, which made learning and retaining spelling difficult because her focus was on writing the letters. Linda has made learning fun and my daughter has made tremendous progress in a few short months. Linda has a high bar, and meets my daughter where she is on a given day while demonstrating progress each week. She is so much more confident in her writing and I can see that she's proud of how far she's come. She never complains about having her tutoring nights. We plan to continue to work with Linda to support my daughter in her growth as new challenges arise! My only regret was not starting sooner. We could have saved a lot of homework and studying tears if we had considered a tutor earlier. It's really the best investment we could have made!" Read more

watching students grow being around the students and helping them grow I been doing this for over 7 yrs now and watching my students grow is very special I sometimes have my students bring whatever they feel helps them with reading or math or even writing. I like to spend as much time with each of them to make sure that when they go back to school they have it down with out any mistakes

Our entire family was stressed during Emily's final exams last December. The academic and emotional support your tutor provided was PRICELESS. She managed to overcome her test anxiety. Their help truly brought peace to our household over the holidays and Emily's grades are even better than we hoped.

Working with Dr. Lester was an incredible opportunity, and his knowledge and education with writing definitely shows. He offers advice and constructive criticism in a positive light, and is a great teacher. My writing style and capacities have improved since working with him, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend! 5/5 stars!

My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.

Linda is kind, supportive, engaging, and is easy to communicate with about both academic support as well as the nuts and bolts of scheduling, payment, etc. My daughter had been performing below grade level for 2 years and within 6 months is up to grade level. My daughter looks forward to her time with Linda.
