I love teaching. I have taught on both the high school and college level to all kinds of students. Retired after over 30 years.

I am a VA certified teacher (PK-6) in my 16th year of teaching. I also have my masters degree in Leadership in Math Education which certifies me to teach Math for K-8. The majority of my teaching career has been in 5th/6th grade math. Additionally, I have been privately tutoring students in grades 4-9 in various concepts of math for 10+ years.

As a current special education teacher with 5 years of teaching K-5th grade and several years of tutoring, I am constantly up to date with every subject in the elementary grades. I get to know each student individually and help them based on their needs and accommodations. I encourage feedback from parents as it helps me grow. I love to bring fun and engaging activities into my lessons.

I have worked mainly with upper elementary and middle school education. I have been a para, a tutor, and contracted-in teacher. I have experience working with students of different ages, but I focus a lot on pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. I love helping people learn. It is definitely a passion. I teach students with all the heart I put in to teaching my own kids. I put quite a bit of influence on a student having confidence and believing that they CAN and WILL succeed by celebrating even the smallest of accomplishments.

We do only one-on-one tutoring, this is the best way to tutor a student. I have been in education most of my life and my Father was a Dean at a Univeristy and I was a VP of a Boston college and we have grown up students that were tutored the way we do it and it works. I retired 10 years ago and started Tutor A Team and we are not the largest and best tutoring in the Hampton Roads area!

I have a BS in Mechanical engineering, have been published in my field and have more than 5 years experience working in industry. I have experience with tutoring in both math and science and have a passion for education.
