I have been an academic coach for 12 years specializing in reading, writing, creative writing, and social sciences. I meet the student where they are, so my approach is very customized. What works with one student may not work with another. I always want learning to be fun & approachable! I hold my undergrad from Harvard, a Graduate degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a graduate degree from Harvard Divinity School. I excel in paper writing!

Abhishek M. says, "Matt is my son’s ‘Guru’. He’s a brilliant teacher with great tutoring and mentorship skills. My son, who is currently in 10th grade (sophomore), was experiencing challenges to learn Latin and cope up with a demanding syllabus when his Latin teacher at school left 2 months after the start of the school year. His grades started to go downhill and he was demotivated. I’m glad that we found the right help with Matt. From the first tutoring session itself, we saw the revival of my son's interest in learning Latin. To our happiness, my son’s grades improved significantly. Matt's stronghold on the language and his phenomenal experience as an educator have enabled him to flex his teaching strategies with my son to bring the best out of him. I'm grateful to him for not just teaching the subject so well, but motivating my son, kindling the spark in him to excel in life." Read more

Sarah says, "I love that book cover topics specific to the SAT. It sounds simple enough but so many other big-name test prep books don’t do that. I found some of the more obscure and hard-to-name topics that I was struggling with and the book helped to improve my score last-minute." Read more

I hold a master’s degree in Special Education. I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor. I have been providing literacy tutoring online since 2017, and teaching for over 20 years. When I’m not tutoring and teaching, I love to spend time with my children and my husband. I am a knitter, a baker, a reader and a writer. In the summer, I have a garden where I grow many, many, many leaves and bugs and the occasional tomato. I am a fan of Muppet movies and minor league baseball, Northeastern University hockey and UConn basketball.

Hi, I'm Lizzie and I love working with students to develop their love of learning and expand their understanding of what's happening in the classroom. I believe it's important to customize each tutoring session to a student's learning style so they are able to utilize their strengths and feel empowered to succeed. As an ADHD Coach, I specialize in working with children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder on how to thrive in school. I'm passionate about making sure neurodivergent students have the opportunity to love learning and get the most out of their studies.

I have 22 years of (Special Education) teaching experience, so I have built a great working knowledge of how students work and learn. I am also very skilled in breaking down concepts in order to present them in a more manageable way. I enjoy working with students of all levels! I enjoy watching students “get it,” especially after having struggled with a concept for awhile! 😊

Dr. Briel is a fantastic tutor. He was able to seamlessly weave the crucial elements of Greek grammar together with interesting, engaging readings. My goal with Greek tutoring was to begin to read Patristic sources in the original text, and so he introduced me to them via a wonderful text called "A Patristic Greek Reader," which selects passages of the Church Fathers and presents them with extensive notes and vocabulary. Dr. Briel was able to help me to navigate these notes and aid me in not just understanding the grammar, but in actually reading the text itself. Many of our meetings also contained extensive discussion about the content of the text, which brought the readings to life and sparked interest in further studies in Patristics. Our sessions initially took place in person, and then they transitioned to online and phone-call meetings due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Briel was flexible on all of the dates and in every format, and he was able to accommodate my somewhat erratic schedule. For those just starting Greek and those picking it up after some years, I heartily recommend him for your studies.
